I'm a problem solver. When I see something wrong I reflexively start to think of ways to fix it. I want to make things easier to use and more intuitive. I'm known for my ability to quickly come up to speed on complex and highly technical design spaces. I pinpoint the key challenges, work within the constraints given, and make clear recommendations about how to proceed. I like bringing people together and motivating them to build something great.
I came to interaction design from the technical side. In college I was attracted to computer science because it combined my dual loves of creativity and logic. When I first came to Seattle I spent three and a half years working as a program manager. While I enjoyed the job, when I started working on UI features with UX designers it was like I'd been let out of school to go to recess. So, I spent a year retraining and learning more about design and I've been happily designing ever since!
I now work at Tableau designing software to help people around the world see and understand their data. Creating a tool that allows other people to ask and answer questions of their data more quickly and easily than ever before is an enourmous pleasure and honor. Plus, since joining, I've discovered a deep love for the field of data visualization and have spent countless hours building and exploring my own personal datasets. I love making something that I myself enjoy using so much.
